From the San Jose Airport it is a two hour drive via the Pan-American Highway, then 20 miles via good paved new roads, and the final 1½ miles on a good, level dirt road. Just beyond the property, but out of sight, lies the small village of Copal. You will find the town-hall, police station, church, schools, mini-mart, various workshops and a new, small supermarket. The area near Copal is rural, picturesque Costa Rica. Cowboys still round up their cattle with horses, oxen are used for transport of wood, and the people are friendly and helpful. Busses pass the property on a regular schedule and they stop on call to get to Nicoya or to connect to busses to Liberia, San Jose, or other destinations. In the city of Nicoya (half an hour by car) you have large supermarkets, a hospital, schools, university and many modern stores. In a few more kilometers you will reach Santa Cruz, with a very nice downtown with shopping in little boutiques and much more. Not far away from the property there are two national parks: The Barra Honda National Park with its famous caves and dry forest and the Palo Verde National Park, which covers the whole area where the Rio Tempisque ends in the gulf of Nicoya. There you will find lots of water-birds, crocodiles and mangrove-forest. Beautiful Pacific beaches are nearly. One hours driving to Samara or one and one-half hours to the city of Tamarindo.
